Summary

Everyone who works with data has their own ways of looking at it. One of Drivetrain’s core features that makes it so valuable for our users is the ability to look at your data in different dimensions. Now, with our intuitive and easy-to-use new feature, Pivot, you can configure your views any way you want, making your data visualization more flexible than ever before.

With Pivot, you can choose which dimensions you want to see in your columns and rows and how you want to filter your data. You can build out robust views that allow you to quickly hone in on just the information you need the way you need to see it.

Now that you can summarize your data any way you want, you can explore it at a deeper level to find the answers you need and create more customized reports.

Before we developed Pivot, Drivetrain’s default view, which displayed dimensions in rows and time in columns, was the only way to look at your data.

Let’s take a look at what you can do with Pivot.

Tailor your views with different configurations

Define the hierarchy in which your data is displayed

You can now arrange the hierarchy of dimensions in your rows and columns by re-ordering them in the pivot. This allows you to visualize and aggregate your data in different ways.

Let's look at how we can change the hierarchy in how the rows in this view are displayed.

Notice how the view changes. When you reorder the rows in the Pivot window, the rows are displayed in their new hierarchy.

Choose to show rows as filters for your data

When you select to see rows as filters, the dimensions presented as rows in your view also appear in dropdown menus at the top of your page, allowing you to see only selected dimension values in your view. This makes it much easier to navigate your data.

Now you can view just your selected dimensions.

Choose between Table and Compact views

You can set your view to Table, which shows all your data at a glance. Compact view offers a more streamlined view, allowing you to collapse and expand the data in different rows to see the additional metrics within it.

This is particularly useful when working with a lot of different dimensions within your data set. Your choice here won’t change the pivot configuration (i.e. the specific data you have chosen to include in your view). Rather, it provides different ways of drilling down into your data.
