Refer setup guideAbout Certinia
Certinia, formerly FinancialForce, is an ERP and professional services automation suite built natively on the Salesforce platform. Services businesses run their general ledger, billing, revenue recognition, and PSA on it, from projects and resourcing to time and utilization. Because it lives in the Salesforce org, its financial and services data sits right beside the opportunities and accounts in your CRM.
Put your Certinia ledger and projects to work in one plan
[ 01 ]
Plan on Certinia ledger actuals and your operational data in one model
Drivetrain syncs your Certinia ledger actuals with data from your other operational systems, such as pipeline and headcount, so the plan and the actuals sit in one model and you no longer rebuild in Excel.
When revenue is lower than you planned, you see which deal didn't close and update the forecast in Drivetrain.

[ 02 ]
Budget by department or region, and trace any overspend
Each Certinia transaction line item arrives with its GL account, company, and dimensions so you budget by any of them, the way your team posts.
Every sync updates actuals against those budgets, so when a company spends more than planned, you see which department or region the extra spend came from.

[ 03 ]
Track projects and business units across companies, in one currency
Each Certinia line item carries its company and dimensions, and PSA projects sync from the same org, so you see one total for each project and business unit, across all your companies.
When a client project is delivered by two companies, its revenue and cost show up together, in one currency.

[ 04 ]
Give budget and project owners their own budget vs. actuals
Each Certinia transaction line item comes across with its company, dimensions, and project, so Drivetrain can give each budget owner a budget vs. actuals for just their part.
Actuals update with each sync, so an owner sees how much budget remains partway through the month, and finance stops building a spreadsheet for each owner after close.

How does Drivetrain connect to Certinia?
Through Drivetrain's Salesforce connector, with OAuth. Certinia stores its data as Salesforce objects, so the connector reads the Accounting and PSA objects directly, along with your CRM data. You don't need a separate Certinia connector or an ETL tool.
Does Drivetrain write anything back to Certinia?
No. The connection only reads from your Salesforce org. Budgets, forecasts, and scenarios are built and stored in Drivetrain, so your Certinia books and projects stay as your team left them.
How often does Certinia data refresh in Drivetrain?
On a schedule you set, and whenever you refresh. The first sync brings in your history, and each one after that brings in only what changed.
What happens when a journal is posted in Certinia after the month closes?
It comes across on the next sync as a changed record, and that month's actuals update with it. Your budget is untouched, so you see the journal's effect in that month's variance.
Can Drivetrain combine Certinia with another ERP?
Yes. If one entity runs on NetSuite or QuickBooks, connect both and map each to a shared chart of accounts. Drivetrain then consolidates them, translating currencies and eliminating intercompany balances.
